Hey all

Macy has been on James Wellbeloved for approx 3 wk so far but since she has been on it all she seems to do is POO! and to be honest im gonna struggle to house train her she hides anywhere she can and does one but she does so many??
Could it be the food? she isnt on anything else at all?
Also does anyone recommend another brand of food that they have noticed more solid and less frequent poos for their pooch?? lol

Thanks All
Hope your all well xx

Hmm, not sure whether the food could be causing her to poop alot or what?
But i feed my 6 month old pup Wagg Puppy food, and he will have a poo in the morning, and a poo in the evening. And they are good poops too.

my mom swears by that wellbeloved stuff, but if i remember rightly her back garden was very much mostly poop!!! may be the food, i use purina beta large breed puppy and adult, its good as far as i can tell , lacey does have anything between 2 and 5 poops a day but never runny ones, and i do walk her alot so she is always moving hence lots o poop

i used to use james well beloved and a friend and we swore by it.but it was costly so i went to beta pup, my lenny had terrible poos on it and was advised to change it by the vet.I went for wagg as Tanya suggested it and it was great for my pup and so good value. My advise is stick with it a wee bit longer and if your not happy or macy change it over slowly. But come to mention it ,it did make Lenny poo a lot the james s but it wasnt as if he had the runs.

How old is she?Are you allowing her to eat as much as she wants at each meal, how many times a day are you feeding her and are you still soaking it for her?
If you are free feeding her and still soaking/softening her food, perhaps try drying it up and only feeding her the recommended daily amount split between her 3 meals.Over feeding can cause soft/too much poo, drying the biscuits up can also help.
If that doesnt help then maybe the food just doesnt suit her.
Wainwrights from Pets at home is a good food, or Arden grange,Beta or Burns.

I have switched over to csj natural champ and natural little champ for the pups, it is less costly as my previous food, and they all seem to love it. The only problem I have had with Belle (gsd) is that she has started to eat some of the poops lo!! You can buy it online or look at the website to find your nearest stockist...

I find that too many poo's can mean over feeding too , if Tobe ever got extra's say at xmas time when people slipped him titbits if i wasn't watching ); he'd go much more for a few days , Dani how much are you feeding ?

Find a tiny cup/bowl etc and just give an even level amount each time as it is easy to over feed if you don't judge it properly , and see how you go , does she have chews ? as that could be a lot of extra food and they can make them poo lots too .

Hi,
I agree with the comment about CSJ.
Brilliant food, VERY reasonably priced (less than all others suggested!) but still high quality. If you look at their website, there are mega amounts of owners who have swapped to CSJ who had problems with lots of other foods, they are all very happy with it.
James Wellbeloved does cause a lot of poos!!
MOST dogs poo once for every feed they have. (eg. 3 feeds per day = 3 poos!!!)

I vote for CSJ as well. Mine have the 'That'll Do' and the bc with a wheat allergy has the Lamb and Rice,

They all enjoy it, their coats are really glossy and their poos nice and solid (sorry!) their teeth are really white as well.

Mazy is on Wainwrights puppy , and also Natures Harvest both have rice and some veg in them and thou they are meat it is on the dry side. She loves it and does a poo twice/3 times a day. I also give her the Wainwrights biscuits as a side dish lol

hi all thanks for replies

i did find a website that said shih tzu's are like cats and will just graze at food - and she never really ate all of what i gave her? even tho i never seemed to give her much. i looked on the bag of wainwrights and weighed out what they recommend and it was a lot! she has no where near this and i think she doesnt need so much - anyway over past 2 days iv reduced the amount and only leave her food down for 10mins and poos have improved thank god - il let her finish this lot of food then make a decision i think - what does CSJ stand for exactly? sorry to sound dumb?

xxx
