Maybe you'll change if you dont buy barn or free range after you watch this? Or if money is the problem maybe you should give up eggs?!

To be quite honest, i really don't see the need in this!!! Would it really hurt them to let them lose in a big barn or a courtyard??? I'd love to shove them in a tiny cage and let them stand in their own sh*t. We buy free range eggs and chicken. At least they've had somewhat of a life.

I always buy free range eggs etc , and don't need to watch what goes on , or be told what to do , sorry but i don't like your tone ! some people can't afford them ( i can't really ) the price of good eggs is shocking ( and they are still days old when you get them ) but anyone with a family has to have eggs , and we havn't all got rolling gardens to keep our own chickens in ( or be allowed too )

I agree Tanya , but don't like people being told what to do ( i can't afford free range chicken , as much as id like too buy it ) but this person has a habbit of sounding like they are being nasty all the time ); and i won't stand for that it's bullying .

Ye the chicken is ridicululous prices, if i had my way i just wouldn't eat it, simple, i don't like to buy these expensive things because i feel like it encourages people to sell for such a silly amount. But my OH has quite a bit of money and he wants to buy it, so that's up to him. But no way can i eat the cheap stuff knowing where it comes from.

I only buy local free range eggs, I know where they have come from then. But I agree with rtt as they are so much more expensive than the caged ones and many families are on a budget and can't afford the extra. It is not the people who buy them that are in the wrong it is the people who keep them in these disgusting conditions, for the price they get for the eggs it wouldn't hurt them to have less chickens and let them roam, rather than have them cooped in little cages. I know that if everyone stopped buying them the demand would have an impact on the supply, but not everyone can afford them and some people just turn a blind eye anyway.

dont you tell me to stop eating eggs pfft

i did have my own chickens till this week so i had my own free range eggs but space was an issue and decided not to keep them anymore i,d love a farm again me

and i agree with rtt i dont like your tone either you dont come on here ranting and telling us what we should and shouldn do no one has that right what so ever someone else tried it didnt work with her either

i will now buy what i can afford but i can also grab some free range off a friend (when her bloody neighbour stops pinching them ) she has 45 chickens in a huge field 5 of which were mine but should i need to buy them i will buy what my budget allows

i dont need to watch either that i had ex bats i know how they were kept although mine and amys were from shed kept not cage and sold as free range so not all you buy free rangein the shops actually are i can vouch that tescos arent as those come from the place we had the hens i dont call 20,000 in one shed free range !!!!!!! but i dont come on here telling people what to buy or do

It makes me so angry when people preach , we all know what goes on we aren't stupid , but our family has to come first and i like to think we all buy the very best quality we can afford , i don't buy rubbish and never have , but we all have to economise in some way , well said by the way Dee (;

It's all very well eating free range, but it can be very difficult. When you're out, or at work, barely any sanwhiches are free range. And what about the mayo used? That never says where the eggs come from.
I eat free range when I can, after seeing the 'Chicken out' programmes. But sometimes it's not as easy as just buying the free range option.

I have 45 ex battery hens who have free range of 6 acres of land and can do what they want as and when they choose to do it, if it wasnt for some cheeky git nicking my eggs i would have enough to keep most of us going lol.

What gets me is like dee said, the chickens that we saved from slaughter were classed as free range and their eggs sold as free range...i dont class 20,000 chickens per shed and a outside space of around 1/4 of acre as free range. Some of my girls came litterally oven ready...one had a eye missing and a good amount had had their beaks cut so as not to inflict injuries on the others and god where the poor girls pale, they are now fully feathered happy girls roaming about my field.

Just because some people choose to buy free range eggs and meat doesnt always mean your actually getting what you think...chickens are classed as freerange even if kept in a barn like my girls were...i however dont.

I dont think its fair to demand people buy free range or stop buying all together as unless youve been to the actual farm where your eggs and chucks are coming from and can honestly say they are truely free range as i am sure you will be surprised at how your 'free range' chickens are actually kept.

if thats a battery farm for chickens then i have been to one when i was very young, omg he had over 3000 chickens stacked high in a massive barn, yes a very disturbing sight and the smell well lets just say it was about 15 years ago and the smell still makes me feel sick!! i dont buy eggs anyway and i dont buy chicken full stop because its all so expensive!! i do think that ^oo^ isnt preaching though and in the first post only suggested that the film might change our minds! but everyone has an opinion on subjects like these, i am fortunate to know how farms work and my (OH auntie) auntie does have many chickens that are free range, she also has recently bought 3 baby pigs to slaughter currently they live in a large shed type out building on big beds of hey that gets cleaned out regularly, i think as this sort of thing has always gone on its kinda like floggin a dead horse (excuse the phrase)

if you buy free range or free range organic from a shop then the chances are that you are actually getting battery eggs anyway! i know of 5 free range & organic egg farmers that do eggs but to top up their money they buy in battery eggs & "flip" them onto the different colour trays ie blue for free range or pink for free range organic, its an easy way for them to treble their money then all they do is burn the grey trays. the only way to be sure where your eggs come from is to either get hens or go to a farm & get them strait from the hen.

aint that the truth bearsmum

the ones amy has and i had sold them to a farm shop as free range !!!!!!

all the supermarkets are just the same and organic free range just means they are feed on organic food they are normally still in a shed with 20.000 hens in each one thats not free range one bit free range is where you have to walk bloody miles to find the egs each day and no farmer could get enough that way to supply the amount they do so in sheds they are and all have feather loss etc according to the rspca as long as they have access to an outside area they are free range a 12x 12 pen outside for 20,000 hens hmmmmm they less cramped in the cages

i used to work on a chicken farm as a teen the old fashoined ones badddd big time

Interesting topic here and something wi wrote a 5000 word essay on at uni!

But any whooo

I buy from my yard where they have chickens as pets and the eggs are a bonus.

again understand that not everyone is as lucky to have people like this to buy from esp when the have families!

But don't like being told not to buy eggs at all if i cant afford free range! THE CHEEK OF IT!

Bones and Dee is there enough space up on that wall for me too?
