Citreon AX Heater Blower replacement

my daughter has a citreon AX 'Salsa' (L reg) and the heater fan has stopped working, the fuse id OK, I have replaced the 4 speed fan switch and I have a spare heater fan unit. Question is: do you have to take out all of teh centre console, heater matrix etc to change the heater blower. The Haynes manual shows it to one side of teh console but it doesn't appear to be there !!! Any help appreciated.
