I've put a deposit down on a M reg Citreon ZX 1.4i advantage. Anything I have to really check when I go to pick it up next friday?

Or if you want an answer that isn't misguided and total crap, then make sure you check the inside of the oil filler cap for a white foamy substance, it indicates the head gasket has probably gone, although it can also be caused by the car being sat up for a long time.
ZX's also chew up heater matrix's, so check it blows hot and cold. It should work well. Nothing else to it really, in terms of complicated mechanics the ZX is as basic as they get! Just the normal stuff, but they do go through pads and discs very fast for some reason.

been running a ZX 1.9D Advantage for 6yrs most reliable car i've ever owned cannot vouch for the 1.4 engine wise but other wise a very good car. Check front wishbone bushes, T-Rod ends, Rear brake cylinders (drum)can weep. One piece of advice use Citroen Anti-freeze I know its expensive but the heater matrix is VERY fragile i've replaced mine twice!! and the dash has to come out!! lots of fun. Regards Kev

hi their check the head gasket hasn't gone but if its on a forecourt or any one knows the problem they'll have cleaned the area. Where the cylinder head meets the block on no1 cylinder (no1 being the one closeest to the cambelt) check for oil on the fronof the block as the petrol TU engine has an oil galorie there, the headgasket corodes and the oil is pushed out onto the block, ive done headgaskets on cars young as 3 yrs old.
