My Astra is doing exactly the same thing!!! Please can you let me know What they say!! I would really really appriceat it. Many thanks Tony
Recieved the following but haven't tried it yet (hope it works). Good luck Tim. Tim, put key in ignition, turn to postion 2 (but don't start engine), press lock/unlock buttons on fob. Central locking should respond. Hey presto, key fob programmed. Good luck, Achilles.
Ive got an astravan 2000 1.7tdi. The problem is when im driving the it will make a loud noise from the engine like grinding once you here this pretty much it stalls. It then takes a couple of minutes to start. It feels like its struggling for diesel. Its just had a service Any ideas.
My guess is that if the problem started after your service, it's possible that your diesel filter hasn't been fitted properly and the van will run for a short while until the diesel filter is empty of diesel. I casn't see your diesel filter set up, but if it's the same as mine(which is an older car) the filter housing might be in two parts, a black plastic upper part that houses the sensors, this could be where your problem lies. The upper part of the housing tightens up separately, there is a plastic nut on the same thread as the filter, tighten this before screwing the filter back in place, macking sure the rubber seal is evenly set in it's groove. I hope this is of some use to you, Herbie
A new member here with 2 issues on my Y reg 2001 Vauxhall Astra 1.7 DTI LS 16V ECO4 with 145 K miles: 1. Smoke during acceleration, especially uphill: Replaced glowplugs recently, regularly serviced with new airfilter, oil/ fuel filters etc. I was thinking to check/ clean EGR valve and then MAF/ MAP sensors. Any guide on where to find these on Astra and then clean them? None of these have ever been cleaned/ changed on my car. The acceleration used to be superb in my car buts its slowed a little bit recently and MPG is still very good. Could it be a rich ruel mixture? 2. The remote locking key keeps losing its programming. I've to relearn it every week or 2 weeks through ignitiion. Red LED on key is never weak, replaced battery 2 years ago when it was weak, should battery be again the cause or something else? Thanks..
1.camshaft sensor 2.oil sensor Its just cost me £80 so fingers crossed.

We have a 54 plate 1.6 easytronic (twinport although we still haven't worked out what that is) Within a few yards of driving the doors used to automatically lock but don't now! Central locking (remote) seems to still work fine. Any ideas would be very helpful. Thanks.
My engine was cutting out too. went to a garage, they run the diagnostics, error codes were for accelrator sensors so they replaced accelrator, costed me £200 but guess what, problem was still there so I went to a vauxhall service center, they replaced ECU, costed me £700 more. It was couple of months back and car is ok eversince. I hope that helps. AK
thanks mine was the same problem the ecu it started cutting out everytime the dealer serviced it and had to have the ecu changed each time, just seems to be an ongoing problem with the astra but persevered with it and seems to have worked this time. i was fortunated as mine was under warranty. thanks ahs
anyone can help with this thanx eroll
Take a man with you so you won't have to break your nails.Achilles.
I bought a 54 reg 1.6 Easytronic Astra Design and I have had many problems with it! Firstly a warning light came on which was said in the manual that possibly too much emmissions were being emitted. So, thinking it was still under warrenty I brought it into Vauxhall. I had a phone call at the end of that day saing that my warrenty had ending at midnight that day so I would have to pay £50 for bringing it in and that they had found that the oil filter needed replacing at £75 and that they had found the error code to do with the warning light, but they still didn't know what was wrong and it would need to be in for another hour of computer tests at a cost of £95. Being a young girl I thought I was being ripped off and went to collect my car and gave them their £50 and told them I would sort out the rest else where. I went to kwik fit to have the oil filter replace which only costs £25 there, but they said there was nothing wrong with it, vauxhall were trying it. So far saved myself £170 then. To do with the warning light the error code was P0136, which is possible faulty ECU or oxygen sensor. After reading here, I have decided to replace O2 sensor as it is cheaper than ECU to see if that makes a difference. I do not know why Vauxhall would not have know this! Also, I was wondering if this error code could have anything to do with my car literally drinking petrol, I've spent £50 on petrol weekly for the past 3 weeks (I do drive in London, but not very far) and the fact that my car sometimes stalls in low revs (a new concept to me as an auto driver, but I guess easytronic drives a bit more like manual, rolling back on hills etc) I also had a problem which worried me when driving on the North Circular at 50mph the car lost power and would not speed up it was awful! Also a few times when I have put my key in it won't even turn like it is stuck, so the car won't start! And when my boyfriend or any male pulls up the handbrake, I cannot get it off at all, and sometimes my alarm goes off randomly when I am driving!!!! Any suggestions would be helpful :) Thanks!
