I've got a Vauxhall Astra 1.4 2002 and it recently has started cutting out when coasting or sometimes what seems like no reason when coming up to a junction. No juddering at all so no warning. The first I know about it is when I go to pull away and nothing happens then I see all lights on dash board on. Only happens when vehilce is first driven on a day so seems very strange! Worried the problem is going to get worse so does any one have any ideas as to what could be causing it? Thanks

Hi - my 2001 1.7 TDI 16V LS Astra keeps hesitating and then conking out, normally when its warmed up and on a decent length run. 5 mins with the key out of the ignition will normally get it going again. Thinking back, the revs used to go a bit wild occasionally as well though not so much recently. Ive had the fuel pump ECU (at the back of the engine and pump) tested - no fault present apparently, and the vauxhall techs havent found the fault either.
Latest suspect is the main engine ECU (on top of the block) which has obviously been opened up in the past as its got lots of messey sealant, a slightly damaged connector block and was only held on by one bolt.
I'm planning on sending it off to be tested/rebuilt, but any ideas before I do that?

have u checked the dizzy cap. in side it wil be 4 contacts and a rotor make sure the contacts are clean and not worn or corroded. also check for any moisture in there.

hi i think iv tried evry whichway still cuts out iv been to vauxall motors
charge £100 to put on computer comes back unsolved now iv been told by a auto mac to to have a new catalyst done he recons its choked up
cant lose out happy days ukbilla

Hi allIs there an EGR clean guide for dummies for 1.7 DTi 16V engines (Y17DT, Y17DIT)? Mine is a 2001 Astra 1.7 DTi 16V LS ECO4. Could someone please share the link/ post on here please? Thanks in advance..

hi. i have an astra f c14nz engine.sometimes while i m driving the car stops after a few minutes it will restart.i have changed the fuel pump,coil & fuel pump relay.can any one help me about this fault.thanks
