my rev counter stays at 3000 revs when enginine starts and goes back down when engine off ,is this a sensor or what can any one help?? please

If the rev counter stays at 3000rpm no matter what the engine speed is or even if the ignition is on and the engine's not running. You need a new rev counter. Its dead. Buy a new one from a ford dealer and any decent garage should be able to fit it for you. Trevor.
