having read through the advice on this thread, specifically regarding derestricting a Baotian bt50qt, i bravely headed out to my scooter with dreams of speed and glory. as per the instructions, i opened the panel located beneath the seat. (see [http://small-pla.net/baotian/under.the.seat.jpg] ) i was expecting (or at least hoping for) a singlular, obviously-visible screw labeled "BRASS - remove for greater speed" but instead was faced with a plethora of mechanical bits including, but not restricted to, screws. (see [http://small-pla.net/baotian/close.up.jpg] ) i have no wish to damage my newly purchased sole-means-of-transport (u-bahn notwithstanding), and so i am somewhat shy to attempt any experimentation. could someone (with clue) please examine these pictures and point out exactly which screw should be removed? also, where would i find the "FLANGE"? or specifically, the dial-thing which should be set to second-from-last? if all works out, i am most willing to post detailed, image-accompanied instructions for the mechanically illiterate. i thank-you all. and wish a pleasant morning.
Well my scooter as menitoned earlier is from Trade Imports in Wimbledon tel 0208 4171717....Ask for Lawrence or Gary.....I had a problem, took it back to them, and they sorted it for me....In my opinion, the scooter is a bargain and the service was excellent.....and the bike was ready to drive away about three hours after I rang them....I would definately recommend that if anyone is looking for a brand new well priced scooter, that they give these guys a call.....Jason

let the automatic choke run it's course before moving off it seems to be OK on the stalling when cold.
I have this same problem, to prevent it i tend to hold down the rear brake and keep the throttle pulled foward a small amount to ensure the engine is still running.
But you don't see many of these Baotians around.... I've followed the discussions for a while, and what's missing is a... "BAOTIAN OWNERS CLUB", A great way to share all the problems discussed, and the manual, and the great bits, and who knows, a website, a Baotian get-together. If you're up for it - let me know, I think that it's here to stay. Regards, Martin Adverts Currently On Preloved - Place an ad here for free
I'm just knocking up a simple web page so i can guage the level of interest, id be happy to assist with the hosting / development of an owners club website if there is enough interest. Back soon with a link to the page

If you open up the black cover of the motor, on which the kickstarter is attached(remove cover and kickstarter as one-you do not have to take the kickstarter off seperately!!!!),then you will see 2 drives on which a belt is driven. Removing the front wheel on which the starter cog is running, you will find a small disc behind on which the belt is running. This disc prevents the bigger wheel getting closer to the other wheel at higher speeds, making it run in first gear all the time. Removing it will make the disc come closer the belt will then climb higher and thus making the engine run faster!!!!! Take the cover off and run the engine before you do this and rev it, just to see how it works then remove the ring and let me know how you got on!!!!!! good luck, regard kev.
