i recently bought one of the 'retro' models BT50QT-11 -have just done 300km changed the oil and snipped the pink wire from cdi unit is now doing 40mph well happy !!

Hi there mate ....rather late to ask but what area did you mean by cutting back the area on the distributer cap?? I've changed the height of the needle and taken out the brass screw but there dosen't seem to be a single pink wire going to the cdi although the bike does 40MPH now so maybe thats the limit ?

hi linda, i think its a 16mm, but you need a propa spark plug spanner, as its very awkuard to get out, i took the seat casing and side off to see all the engine, and checked everything, ie, fuel filter etc and spark plug was loose, its very tricky to get in and out but im sure youl manage :) , cheers

re. snipping pink wire if anybody having difficulty finding - i found the CDI unit (rectangular black box) and snipped the pink wire that end rather than at the engine end !

is the rectangular black box (CDi Unit) on top of the engine when you the inspection hatch under the seat?

can you help rectify my problem, got a brand new baotian 50qt-9 and all is running ok but as soon as you put any power on the revs and set off it cuts out so have never ridden it as it wont go beyond just ticking over. had it a month now and checked fuel pipr, filter etc, all seems ok but it still cuts out when any pressure on the revs. please any help or ideas on what this could be otherwise am going to have to send it back, got it off ebay so cant just take it to the person so really need help in sorting it out-i have a manual but we just cant see why it cuts out

Hi Duck, I also bought one of these recently but I cannot get the damn thing started.Any ideas anyone??!! Battery is fully charged but I'm getting no response from the electric or the kick start. This is my first scooter so am I missing something obvious?

hi Herbertas already mentioned by Beefjurky - are u holding rear brake lever on when u try to start - wont work unless u do ! - also there is an engine cut-off switch (independent to ignition) located on RH handle bar next to brakefluid reservoir - make sure is not in the off position - hope this helps!!

hi Mac42 -as mentioned earlier i have a retro ...qt-11 model - this has a small removable panel just below the RH side of the seat - remove this an i found the CDI (black box) 'cable tied' to the frame work - just snipped the pink wire from there !! hope this helps!!

You must also put up the small support under the moped of course both supports.

Hi how does the main stand conect, i have fitted the pin no probs but the springs where do they go and also they look awful hard to expand

Has any bodys scooter packed up yet. i have had mine for 6 months it has just stoped.No spark, turns over okay. Checked spark plug, battery, cdi box, coil, ANY HELP OUT THERE it is driving us mad, nobody knows what to look for not even the mechanic. HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks, but it starts and ticks over the problem is when you put the throttle on it dies and cuts out so you can get past the starting stage - it just cuts out then have had bike a month now and never ridden it. someone seems to think it is the carburretta so am trying to get a new one as am still covered for parts for 6 months

I had a similar problem and it was rectified by replacing the circlip that had come adrift from the needle valve in the carburator.
