thanks zakir i have checked the battery and it seems ok.i switched the ignition on without starting the bike and the lights,horn,flashers all worked ok i will let you know how i get on les has giver me a few things to try. once again thanks, pete

looking at the specifications... it seems the only difference in the one i am looking to buy and the standard one in the UK (i think) is just the engine style. i.e two and four stoke. anyway... feedback on baotians would be great. cheers

zakir, have tested the bike for failure to start with the starting button and it was the solenoid,thanks for your help pete

hi les, put the spanner across the solenoid and the starter motor turned ok the button reading was ok so i am going to change the solenoid and it should be ok thanks for your help you have solved my problem, pete

Air filter cleaning. Petrol is the best thing to clean the sponge type air filter as it removes greas and dries quick.
If the air filter is a cardboard element type u could blow it through with a air line ,but its probably easier to fit a new one as they are fairly cheep.

my bike is loosing power when started first thing in the morning it is only doing 20mph when i pull up to lights it cuts when started back up seems ok but is still only doing 20-25mph once it has warmed up it manages to reach 28-30mph when normally it would be doing 38-40mph it seems as if it is running at half revs someone said the choke might be stuck on so i disconnected it but has not made any change any ideas

Hi had same problem, turned out to be the valve settings, they need doing every 3000 miles or so, also had water in the carb, hope this helps

have just been checking the air filter when i noticed that the is a small amount of petrol in the there, not much but enough to make the corner of the sponge to be soggy is that normall??also you said it might have water in the carb were is the srew to let the water out and thanks for your help

thanks mark101it turned out to be the valve settings done it myself never done anything like that before works great now. But just one question what clearance do people recommend? At the moment i have it set at top (inlet) 0.05mm
bottom (outlet) 0.08mm

Hi Im Also Stuck I Have A Black Baitian Brought It New Have Done 24.559 Miles On It Soo Far But Still Stuck On 34/35 mph, This Site Helped Me But I Twisted The Brass Screw Witch Made The Rear Wheel Spin Is That Suppose To Happon???Could Any Of You Help Me De-Restrickt It More As Im Anoyyied With Idiot In Cars Overtaking Me Meny Thanks Alex

hey i have a jmstar 50cc which is pretty much same model bike you got, i bort mine of a mate and worked fine for cuple of months then decided it dint want to start easily bt wen i did get started it wud run nicely at idle bt wen i go to put some revs on it started to sound like it was misfiring n wasnt get more thn 10mph. a bort a haynes manual for it n stripped it all clean new spark plug nd it worked fine for 2 days then started doin same thing so i bort a ngk sports ht lead and iv had no problems since n got a xtra 5mph out of it. hope this helps
