concerning the slide pin on the carb you have grooves on the needle slide to get a rich mixture you slot the tab up high towards the top of the carb where the cable slides in to body. to get a weaker mixture you slot the tab low on the grooves when i say low i mean towards the pointed part of the needle slide but it should be in the middle setting on most bikes. look at your manual to see where the tab is supposed to sit bob.

In defence of the Baiotian 9Qt,Ihave had mine for 1 year plus and have done 3.000 miles with no probs apart from having to to change spark plug.I am 20 stone in weight, and the scoot carries me around at 40 mph with no probs and goes up steep hills as well!! No mods apart from derestriction after recommended time.Great little machine!!
Change the oil in engine and gearbox as stated and keep a good supply of WD40 on the electrics and it will never let you down.

Got a BT49qt 18 months old and have a strange problem with indicators.
When the bike gets to high revs the indicators stop working but everything else works ok.
Fitted new voltage regulator, flasher relay and checked wiring.
Fed up of getting beeped at, especially on roundabouts.
Any ideas?

To replace the belt you will need an impact wrench, its the only easy way to undo the nut on the variator, there are other methods but as i have found myself they dont work. You can get a 12v impact wrench for around £40 from argos and it does the job fine, also you can take wheel nuts of your car etc with it so it will have other uses, your new belt should cost around a tenner so for an initial fee of £50 max you will have your own impact wrench and further replacements will only cost you for the belt. When mine first went i took it to a local bike shop and it cost me £40 for them to do it so in the long run it will pay for itself, also while its off take a look at your rollers to make sure they dont need replacing. Hope this helps

Mark

Hi All,

My Baotian BT48QT-9 scooter recenly stopped starting after spending one night outside.

I have found the problem which is that the spark from the spark plug is very small. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this could be?

I have replaced the spark plug and CDI unit and nothing has changed. My Dad seems to have looked over the whole bike with a volt meter and has given up saying he's ran out of ideas.

Has anyone eolse had a similar experience or has any ideas on what I can do to repair my precious scooter?

Thanks in advance,

Will.

Hi there,

I had the same problem when my ped was kept outside for over a year.

You need to change your HT lead and spark plug cap.
The original cap is metal and the high voltage leaks out in the damp, plus the HT lead cracks.
A weak spark has little chance of ignition in the cylinder, also you will flood the engine and there will be smell of petrol.
These just twist together into your ignition coil. Also get a iridium sparkplug.
I used to dread the rain as my ped kept cutting out, Now I have no problems
at all

Hi,

Thanks so much for your reply I'll order the parts you've suggested and let you know how it goes.

Thanks again,
