Thanks for all info and links to manuals - now safely printed off. Unfortunately we may have jumped the gun prior to receiving & reading manual and when trying to switch on heater via gas (& leisure battery) the water heater starts off ok (green light comes on) but then the fuse keeps blowing at the remote wall switch. Any suggestions? Regards, Seejays
if it's positive then the fault will be more likely within the heaters system and the common suspect will be the gas valve stuck down. Try bridging the fuse with a pair of 'bull nose' pliers or similar for a second..no more!!, do this once or twice only and if it frees the valve all well and good and it should be fine afterwards on the 1amp fuse. If it's the negative fuse then the problem will be with out? which means something else in the van has a bad earth and it is trying to use the heater connection to earth and overloading it. In this case I would look at the battery charger connections first
i wonder if you could help we have recently bought a lunar saturn 1994 model that is fitted with a cascade 2 water heater. we have used the van twice with no problems then we went away last weekend the heater worked fine the first day and the second it just started clicking as though it couldnt ignite that is when we use it on gas, when we use on electric its fine many thanks andy
When you say '"clicking" what do you mean? you should hear a 'clunk' as the gas valve opens and then about 8 seconds of 'ticking' which is the spark. If you remove the outer plastic cowl and the inner aluminium plate behind that and there is little or no wind then you can then watch what is happening outside while someone switches on and off inside, but be careful and if you are in any way worried about doing this get someone in to check it for you.

thanks for your reply, we have done what you suggested and it sparks and ticks but no gas seems to be getting through. do you do and exchange on burner modules and if so at what cost and how quickly can you return many thanks andy
Send a cheque to Arc Systems at the address on my website and I send one out, you then return your old one in the same box. If you ring Monday I will be better able to say if I can be certain to get you one out this week as I am away for Whit week and trying to clear the decks!! Gary http://www.arcsystems.biz
The first thing to try is taking it to bits and cleaning it, the cap at the top will pop off and a hair dryer to warm the cap helps, after that clean up the contacts and reassemble...I've fixed quite a few doing this. I am not sure of just what this one looks like but if you can email a picture I think I can match it if you fail to make yours work as they are not distinct to [Log in to view email]
Recieved the water heater Saturday morning, all plumbed in and working by lunchtime. Thanks very much for your excelent repair service and advise. Richard
I wont be in touch with him untill the end of the week I dont think mine can be repaired as the lug at the bottom of the igniter (where the igniter cable attaches ) has brocken off and there does not seem to be a spark when depressed as soon as i get mine back i will send you a photo and see if you can match it much obliged to you
Gary
but thanks Dave your advice is spot on!... it's nice to know someone will keep the thread running while I am away carry on the good work regards Gary
