Thanks for that Gary. I got sprayed. So, something blocking water passage into the tank, any ideas on how to clear that without dismantling the whole thing?

All I can say is I had to hammer one blockage out, only to find nothing???
It will be flakes of limescale blocking the passage and while dry they'll be solid, once wet though and without dismantling they should dislodge... one would hope!!

Nigel this is all of your problem but you cannot buy a burner on it's own, the burner is part of the 'burner module' and can only be sold as such.
I sell serviced exchange modules or you can buy a new one, if you would like one of mine please contact direct for details

OK, from the outside ( I have removed the cover and the drain plug) and using a curved piece of piano wire pushed round the bend into the passage from inlet to tank. after an inch or 2 stops dead. Is that the blockage or is it another bend in the passage? Have tried dislodging blockage with no success, what have you used?

You can see the passage inside the van and it goes to the bottom centre of the tank, between 3 and 4 inches, looks like you've found the problem then?
What I'd do is get some water into the tank and let it soak for a couple of days and then have another go with the hose. Other than that white vinegar is supposed to dissolve limescale so stick some of that in it won't do any harm At the end of the day it's just bits of limescale so soaking and pressure from the hose should work

Have tried 2 litres of white vinegar, sat for several days, no result. Tried 30 sachets of Oust appliance descaler made up to 5 litres with hot water, sat for 2 hours, no result. Guess i will have to dismantle heater and investigate from the inside. What spares would i need? ( o rings etc)

Well I don't know what you've got stuck? 30 sachets!! I would think you'll only need a tank seal kit

thanks gary a very useful reply It seems we may need a burner module, we will check it out this weekend. Do you supply the parts & what is the cost. Or do you do site visits to repair them. Our van is sited in Llangollen Wales. We live in Manchester so Nottingham is a bit far, so if needed do you deliver Thanks again kayk

The 3600 is a gas fire, it may or may not have the mains electric heating to go with it, if it has then you will have a Carver Fanmaster control switch on the wall?

I see the later model of Carver water heater has an external cover for when the heater is not in use and for over wintering. Is there not a cover available for the mk 11 model and would that not be a good idea. At the moment I use an old washing up bowl as a cover when the heater is not in use as we pitch by the coast in North Cornwall where the wind sure does blow and, certainly this year, the rain has been very heavy. This does seem to help.

Current water heaters are made by Truma and have always had 'winter covers' As for Carver, I've got one I use on my vans Cascade mk2, it's actually a sample someone made to drum up business which did not succeed? as far as I know then this sample is unique... works very well though!

Hi. I am new to caravaning and just purchased my first caravan. my problem is i cannot get the carver cascade 2 water heater to work. i have water running out of hot taps, but when i turn the heater on, i get green and red light come on together. i have tried turning off and on several times. when i turn it on, it makes a click (just once)then nothing at all. i have checked the gas is getting to the unit by removing the gas pipe. can anyone sugest what i should do or check next. i am competent with most plumbing and electrical tasks.

Alan, I'd expect your van might be a little younger as this fault only happens on late 91 to early 93 cascade burner modules. Basically the 10 second timer circuit is now zero so green and red lights come on together, solution is a new or serviced exchange 'burner module'

Robbie, it is most important the room seal of the flue is 100% intact, I, can't say without seeing it or give you any advice as to how you might put it back and be sure it's sealed.
I would suggest you get it checked by an expert

Hi Gary, Thanks for your help, and yes it is possible my van may be a bit younger than i thought, the guy i bought it from was told it was about 1990, but not sure of exact date. i will be in contact with you through your web site to see if you could help me with a burner module. Many Thanks Alan....
