White vinegar I'm told works poured in through the hot water outlet after removing the hose, 1 part to 4 parts water I understand but you only need perhaps three pints in total. Theres a manual you can download on my website

Can anyone help our carver cascade II was leaking water from the "melting plug" under the cowl we replaced this which obviously cured the leak but then water began to leak slowly from the taps in the kitcen on the joints and the bathroom (the tap spout lifts up and down) and the shower began to drip constantly. Then the melting plug melted again. Does anyone know if the thermostat is replaceable and could this be the problem. Thanks

Cham, I nearly answered this on the PC forum but they'd already told you the get an 'expert'!Your problem is either the burner itself is rotten on the ends, or if they look ok, a spider or similar has crawled into the burner inlet tube. Rotten burner means replacing the whole 'burner module' either new or serviced exchange from me. If it's a spider or bit of web, then it simply needs cleaning out using a test tube cleaner or similar

Hold the phone TEL, I wasn't talking to you!!Your problems different, you have a faulty 'burner module' but it's the electronics on yours that are faulty. You will need to replace the burner module and fit another new 'fusible plug' I'm guessing then things will settle down and stop leaking as the temperature of the water and therefore pressure will not be so high.

Gary seems that the srew in 'safety valve' ( about 3"long and with a 'clay' end ) has blown...The 'clay' end which looks as if it should be plugged ( reading the other messages - plugged with lead ??) is open and the water is going through that and out of two large holes at the hexagonal nut end...Is this a part that just wears out with age ( I think this would be around 20 years old ) or do you think there may be a more sinister problem which has caused it to burst open ? Can I just replace this - If so, do you supply parts or just advice. Thanks Paul

The pressure relief valve of my Carver cascade 2 waterheater has become brittle and broken off, leaving the nylon threaded end stuck in the aluminium block. Any ideas how I can get this out, so that I can replace the valve with a new one? Alternatively does anyone know a Carver dealers/ agent in the Brighton/Worthing area who could carry out the repair?

Dino, you ask a good question the 'fusible plug' can and does 'wear' out and it does this more often than it's real job. If however it did melt due to overheating then perhaps you noticed the water was scolding hot? there's also often evidence of solder like globules on the burner from the melted 'clay' (low melt alloy)The temperature sensor on some modules can be easily tested, these are the more modern type without the red knob to adjust the temperature. There are two wires usually blue and yellow that are soldered to two bare tags above the gas valve outside. By shorting the two tags together it will fool the electronics into believing the water has come too temperature and shut down the burner. You don't need gas on just the control switch switched on, because of no gas it will fail but shorting the wires will also restart the modules start cycle and still prove the circuit works. If though it does not do the above then indeed the modules faulty and the plugs done it's job

Damian, it depends how your pumps controlled? it could be by a micro-switch on each tap or by a single pressure switch.Check under sinks to see if wires from micro-switches are there and connected, the pressure switch is generally a white plastic thing with an adjustment knob fitted in the cold water feed pipe just after the pipe comes into the van?

Hi there! i have had perfect trouble free use of the cascade carver 2 for over 12 months. However, i recently hiched up onto a site, plugged the main and water in then turned on the cold water tap. i heard a loud clacking noise then the sound of the pump stopped, inevitably stopping the cold water flow. The strange part of it is, the heater and hot water still work, including the pump with water flowing nicely. Now all cold water taps do not turn on the pump, with the hot water side being unaffected. Any ideas? Thanks, Gareth.
