Mouldy, no I'm not aware of brand new burner modules with only one lead connection from the switch!, all have had two since 1994?

Still not sure what you've got then but the socket has seven connections and the plug only five, it is just possible then to fit the plug wrongly? and it will possibly blow a fuse if you do?

Rab, not 100% sure which problem you have, it's either a problem with the non-return valve in the cold water inlet to the heater, or possibly a micro switch fault in the taps.

I'd go for the valve first, to help you there plenty more examples of this problem above with the solutions!

Becky, likewise, many similar Q&A's above, but in a nutshell the finger of plastic that presses the reset is 9inches down and 7inches back from the top left corner of the gas fire exactly!

On maximum Gary it appears to be exactly the same, just the tiniest amount of heat. That kettle 'thing' you talk about sorry but i haven't a clue what that's all about? Mmmmm???

I have a Cascade 2 heater.... it would appear that only the solenoid is faulty, I have checked voltages on wires to it, a slight click but valve not opening at all ?? Can you replace the just solenoid valve assemby or even just the solenoid ?

Pop lover, I'm on about the mains 240v connection to the heater, it uses a 'kettle' type plug or 'computer' plug if you like. It plugs into the back of the main control box at the back of the fire and has a habit of working loose so no 240v to the heater!

No Andy, no spares for it have ever been available, the burner module is just that, a 'module' and can only be sold as such,

Hi Gary Thanks I may well take you up on the offer. It was me who rang you up about my BCM and you suggested gentle tapping the gas valve to try and free it - now when I apply the electrics and switch it on(no gas connected yet) I hear and feel the valve pulling on - measures about 10.2v. BUT whilst I was removing the BCM I noticed the lhs screw was loose and yes - someone has cross threaded previously! I am going to use a thread repair kit - used before and very strong fixing after. I know I will have to test for gas leaks after but hoping this will fix it. Thanks again Gary. Not got around to the gas fire as yet!

A-ha Gary now i see what you mean. Is it easily accesible though, to an expert like yourself perhaps, but to an amateur like myself that's something completely different!

Gary, on maximum it does actually blow the air ok, you can feel it coming through the vents BUT only very very slightly warm, not as i would expect it to be if you follow my drift? Where does that leave me now please? Thanks.

Pop lover, why have I got this vision I'm talking to a guy in a red tank top??

yes though even if you can't see it, it's easy to feel behind the fire for the mains plug.
Essentially it's in the area behind the gas control knob, there should be access over the back of the fire where you will feel a plastic box about 4ins wide an 6ins deep, the plug is toward the bottom of the box and pushes in sideways toward the middle of the fire.

Becky, the above reply is for Pop Lover not you, he's got the mk2 Fanmaster which is totally different to yours.

Your problem with your reset switch is simple once you find it! finding it though is so difficult sometimes. Had a trained fitter on the phone yesterday, took me over 10 minutes, (timed on the mobile), to explain it to him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Think 9 inches down and feel over the back off the fire at that level and you'll find it Remember though, it's a finger of plastic cut loose in a plastic box that you press, not a button, and when you do finally press it, it hardly moves!

mnight, I have new ones in stock either genuine ones or a better and cheaper alternative.
Or you could pop down to your local plumbers merchants!! ask for an "1/2inch BSP flanged stop end", you will then need an 18mm x 2.5mm 'O' ring same as the one on your old bung
