Can any one help me i have just bought a ABI viceroy jubiley 4birth caravan it is fitted with a carver 1800 gas fire but the control knob and rod is missing could any one supply me with replacements please. Or advise where i could obtain them. Many thanks Ron
Does not seem like people visit this section on a daily basis as i posted a wanted part for a carver 1800 fire but have not received any answers yet. This time i am posting this for any help on my abi gas oven it is a rose the countess when lit it stays alight while you hold in the control button but goes out as soon as you release it. from my experience this is usually caused by a fault thermocouple. what info i need is can you use any universal thermocouple or does it have to be a special due to the fact it is (lpg ) and if it does can any one tell me where i can get a replacement. Many thanks Ron
I have a cascade 2 GE hot water system with a Truma control module in my Talbot Autohomes Avalon camper and the hot tank is leaking---not too sure where from but I think it could be where the tank fits to the casting or the casting itself. What I would like to know is,can it be repaired or will it have to be replaced.I understand that Carver no longer do these systems and that Truma are not completely compatible. I would appreciate your advice please. Many thanks Peter ___________________ Peter Autohomes Avalon
I do try to answer every day but I've other things to do? The 1800 might be a problem, don't remember the connection this uses but it's probably been nicked if it's the scarce one?! I'll have a look and see what needed on tomorrow If you want to add your own question, just click on any 'reply to this message'
As for the wires, can you email a picture? and how would these two wires connect, what's on the end of them? I can say the Carver Cascade does not have two wires, the gas side is connected to the control switch with a plug, the mains with a three wire mains flex.

But usually the t.v groups that i am in you get answers within a couple of hours so i get a bit inpatient sorry and thank you for coming back to me. Can now sort thermocouple but await your reply on carver 1800. Many thanks Ron
Turn on and instantly have the green and yellow light. Cold water comes out the hot tap so I assume the heaters tank is full. But it doesn't appear to do anything, left for an hour doesn't heat up, makes no noise but green and yellow light on. The red light has never lit up. Followed instruction book to no avail. Gas appears to be fine as ok on fire and cooker. Thanks so much for any help really appreciated! -Dale

After that it's probably a control switch problem, at least to start with. I can say though it's not as old as 78, that's the pattern date, probably 80, 81 or even 83 in certain makes of van

There is actually no batter connected at the min, (was dead only 6volts on full charge) the van is running off mains 240v. So I'm assuming it needs to battery to run? Van is 1983 Abi, I had assumed it was an older heater that had been fitted after, but I guess not! -Dale
However you now bring ABI into it and I wonder if it is a mk1 or a carver 'B0' which ABI prefered in the early 80's This switch, is it white or brown/black?

Pattern tag says 1978 mk1 -Dale
After I installed the unit I connected it to the existing switch unit which had three lights indicating run, fail and heat.(whit controlled in picture) This controll has Carver water heater mared on it. The unit did not work so I installed the one suplied it still did not work. I then stripped the unit and found that it was fireing up just for a couple of seconds and then shutting down. I then thought to do the same with the original heater that I removed. That also fired up bur shut down even quicker than the first one. I suspect that the switch mared caver water heaterhas a fault and the other controll I have now brocken the switch. Is there anyone ouit there that 1, has a switch and two can tell me what else might be wrong or can help me to make at least one out of the two work.
Both are designed to not work at all below a certain voltage, this is generally 10.3v but won't work very well below 11v albeit it will try. The ABI battery 'charging' system is not designed to work electronic equipment, frankly it will do little in the way of charging the battery either!! To be sure either switch is at fault you need to know the flame is burning correctly so it give the correct signal, and that signal is getting to the switch. As for your broken control switches, (or infact the heater), I fix them, depends on which model brown switch you have, (mk2, 2a or 3), as to whether it's better to fix that or the white one? Then again theres a control switch on ebay!!!

is it possible to adjust via the internal pot on the circuit board the cut in level. I.E. heater cuts out at 24* c but cuts back in at 22*c is it posible to adjust this to say cut out at 24*c and back in at 20*c so that heater is not cutting in and out so often thanks Nick
