Barthy, the problem is your 'burner module' is trying to light but is failing either to light or lighting but the electronics not recognising the flame is lit. Solution is generally to swap the module for a new one or serviced exchange from me.

Barthy, contact me direct for costs etc.As for the other question, the flame sensor is the electrode over the burner, this gives a spark 50 times a second and recognises the flames is lit, or not, in the troughs between the sparks. The spark generator and flame recognition circuit are integrated together on the pcb, it's the bit to the left!

Well straight away your 98/99/2000 water heater should be fused at 5A, before 97 at 3A so that's wrong!!Don't understand the fires fuse blowing though, it runs at 8 amps so should be no problem. If an element was shorting to earth it would cause the fuse to blow instantly but the vans RCD would react even faster and trip out first. It's a guess then but I'm thinking the fuse holder in the switch is loose, this could cause overheating which would take sometime before the fuse blows One other guess is 5A and 10A fuses are both black, not got them mixed up have you??

Hi Gary. I havent changed any of the fuses apart from putting back like for like the previous owner may have. I will fit a new fused switch and see if thats any better. I did ask in the local caravan sales and they thought it could be the heating element in the fire going over its set temperature. I will change the fuses to the ones you suggested. thanks.

Craig, first is the flame bright blue and purposeful looking? if it's yellow and candle like then the burners either badly corroded or a spiders climbed inside and made a nest! If the flames blue then the problem is electronic, the correct flame is obviously lighting but the electronics don't recognise it's lit.Damp can cause this so first thing I would do is remove the burner module, open black box and place in airing cupboard overnight, if it still does not work correctly, it will need repairing/replacing.

I have a Bailey Pageant built 92 with a carver 3000 . I want to know if I can fit the fanmaster to it or the Truma Ultraheat unit for electric heating . I read that the Carver 3000 was a rebadged Truma SL3002 . Which would be the better unit to fit.DEG

Either is the answer, the Fanmaster would be easier perhaps. The Ultraheat is more complicated to fit but has the singular advantage of being able to run on low settings without the fan, the Fanmaster must always have the fan running.I can supply either, second hand but overhauled and with a 12 month warranty.

Mike, what year is it? also when the ignition continues after flame is lit, does it change sound, (erratic ticking), or stay the same?Sometimes this fault does happen with the electronic ignition, the problem is generally an electronic fault which means it does not recognise the flames lit, solution is either replace module or remove battery. Or the signal is not getting to the module, poor connection of the ignition lead or shorting to earth If the sound becomes erratic then it's a bad earth connection on one of the two wires going to the gas valve. The electric sides problem is either, a faulty pcb control board, ie faulty relays, clicking does not prove electricity is passing. Or, there are two small thermostats, one or other of these can be faulty which shuts of the 240v to the elements. You can see the back of these stats behind the flue pipe of the gas fire, not easy to get at though

This has probably been asked before but with so many messages I am not sure I will find the answer. Is it possible to upgrade a cascade 2 water heater to operate on 240v as well as gas (making it effectively the GE version) by adding the electric heater element (and presumably tank) from the electric-only version?
If you can then what do I need to do as i have both a gas version and an electric version (but not on the same heater). Thanks
