Yes Rob it is possible so it's the last bit of what you say that I don't understand?
You can have a gas only but not an electric only! so the electric one you have must surely also be gas, ie, a GE?

Hi gary,

The 'electric only' heater is not installed at the moment and I suspect is was a GE but a previous owner has removed the gas parts (or not bothered to fix them) as they only needed electric.

I already have a gas heater installed but not working at present (green and red light on, so forum seems to suggest heater module, but I need to do a bit more cleaning/investigation and have sent you an e-mail for replacement/repair costs). So i would like to add the electric capability to the gas one already fitted.

What do I need to do to add the electric function?; I am guessing I need to fit the cylinder from the electric one (with the immersion fitted) in place of my current cylinder. Do I need replacement seals, and if so which ones?

Cheers.

It depends on condition but I would not swap the cylinder, just remove the old heater and replace it with the GE model. Anything you need on the old heater will then fit the GE

The problem is overall condition, plastic parts are the weakest and are best replaced while the heaters out the van.

Two flashes means blocked exhaust or combustion fan fault, this then can only be a coincidence.
I was rather hoping it meant overtemp stats tripped out which would make sense but that three flashes

Legally probably none Dave!! I believe even the original finish and certainly Truma's later blue finish are now banned under new potable water regulations.

Gary let me ask the question another way, what have you or would you use knowing the water is not going to be drank from the tank.

Dave

If only it was that simple but with modern mixer taps 'knowing' is impossible.
In truth I've been trying to find out, Truma have tanks but nobody will coat them, they where using powder coat but that's now outlawed.

What I've done to protect a small repair, perhaps the start of a hole due to corrosion, is to coat it in two pack epoxy glue. Should then anything be nasty in the glue, I reason the dilution would be so great it could not possibly do harm.

Duncan, when the switch came to me the fault I found was it would not open the gas valve? this would give a similar problem to, but I didn't find anything wrong with the flame recognition circuit.

Give me a ring tomorrow

Firegard, check your battery voltage, mosty likely flat but chargers can over charge and also cause buzzing.

Aha now I understand, that's the sound of the step up transformer humming because the electronics are failing to fire the spark.
It should be a very quiet hum so theres nothing wrong with your hearing! but the solution is a replacement burner module

Yes I do serviced exchange modules, can you contact me direct about those, and yes I did find the common and expected fault with your switch.
Generally speaking, when I don't find a fault I always sent parts back stating 'no fault found' together with the cheques

Gary,

I am refurbing my cascade 2 GE, which includes putting in new water inlet and outlets. Can you advise what is the best way to seal these when I fit them to prevent them leaking (or is the o-ring seal that they come with sufficient).

Thanks.
