You have proved by what you have done that it's the control switch at fault, if you send it to me I can fix it. Get in touch direct for details, as it's urgent you can ring today using the mobile number only from website link below.

Hi, (again) The other night when it was very windy my carver SB1800 went out! This has never happened before and so I lit it again... I noticed it was still very warm as though it had only just gone out. I noted the strangeness!... and kept my eye on it. About 15mins later it went out again!! so I relit it... but it went BANG!!!!! It shi**...// FRigghtened me and so I just turned the gas off till morning. when I had a look at it the next day nothing seemed to be amiss... I uncoupled it from it's supply and took the cover off and removed the fire. Everything seemed as it should be.... My friend suggested that the thermocoupling needed replacing but after reading some of your threads im not so sure? I do know that the flame on my burner is a bit yellow and after searching your forums and some others can't seem to find a solution to this other than cleaning the burner... am I right?? I just take the burner unit out? (somehow!!) and clean it with a wire brush?? I await your reply... thankyou Dreadedsnail! x

Sorry... forgot to add that I have refitted the fire and everything is as it was before... just that the flame seems to be a bit yellow. also... I was just thinking that maybe there is a problem with the thermocoupling as there must of been an amount of gas leaking to make a BANG!! ?? Am I right or just very confussed?? Thanks Dreadedsnail

Dread, it's probably the yellowish flame caused it to blow out in the wind, a yellow flame being much less stable than a blue one.The 'bang' is easy to explain, you tried to relight it before the thermocouple cooled and allow the gas safety valve to shut. This means gas was still going to the burner from the instant the flame went out, you then lit all this gas and took a few years off your life!! So this rather proves the thermocouple to be doings it's job so nothing wrong with that, next time if it blows out, switch it off and wait for a while AFTER the safety valve has shut before relighting. If you listen you will hear the 'clunk' when the valve shuts, probably heard it many times but not realised what the clunk was? As for service, NO you don't attack it with a wire brush, it's not rocket science but you do need to know exactly what your doing, it's not for anyone to do and be left safe afterwards Also the condition of the fires steel gas pipes under the floor needs to be checked and replaced if required, their prone to corrode and leak!!

Thank you Bill and the same to you, as it happens I had a Christmas card this morning from John saying much the same thing.Over a year I get many lovely notes simply to say thank you, it's difficult to know how to respond to them apart from the heart felt appreciation particularly of the time and effort taken to write them. So this gives me chance to say thank you to you in return and hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and Prosperous New Caravanning Year. Gary

Stewart?, it would help to say if it was running on gas or mains electric?it's obviously overheated but the cause is different depending on what's doing the heating. If gas then the 'burner module' is faulty and needs replacing, if electric then only a new thermostat or possibly two is required. I suspect it's gas and by the sounds of it the 'fusible plug' has burst spraying water over the burner to put it out, this would explain the steam outside. Solution then is a serviced exchange burner module and fusible plug, contact me direct via website link below for details,

First is the heat OK on electric without the fan? in other words is the slide switch working correctly with all lights working as they should. No fan but everything else working is either a fault with the fan assembly, a fault on the main control board or perhaps the connection between is disconnected? I have everything you may need in the way of spares

Strange question maybe, but does anyone know how much a Carver SLP3000 is likely to weigh with the fan blower bit included ? Just a rough idea would be great - thanks.Angela xx

Brasstoff, turn the gas on perhaps?Seriously, make sure any isolation taps are turned on first, next light the hob to pull gas that far, now try to light the fire. Note, the gas control knob must be in an exact position for the fire to light, it's marked by a zig-zag but this is not always the right place. To be sure, turn the knob of the stop and then press down, continue to turn holding the knob down and you will feel a slight further drop as a peg falls into a slot and locks the knob from turning. Here and only here is where the gas safety valve is opened and where the fire will light.

Angela, I'd say between 6 and 10kg, if you need it more accurate and I get a chance tomorrow I'll sling one on the bathroom scales, if that is, OH don't catch me sneaking them out the house!! lol

i am posting Gary's reply to my question which i emailed him for any of you that may have the same problem, thanks gary for your quick and very useful responseProblem with my carver 3000 Auto gas fire ignitor connection Hi, you have two connections, the one on the back to the ignitor uses a standard 3mm crimped spade connection, these you can get cheaply in small packs from your local car accessory shop. The other connection on the side is to a micro switch and has two wires, this can often be repaired with tiny 3amp or less chocolate block connectors, you by these from the same place in strips and cut them off as required. You may need to strip the nylon insulation off to get them on the pins

My Cascade 2 will not run properly on gas. It makes popping noises then the red light illuminates. Very occasionally it will run for 5 minutes or so with less popping but then the red light illuminates again. During this time the water does begin to get warm.can you help?

Simple answer to your question Peter, you need a replacement burner module. If you contact me direct, (via my website link below), I'll fill you in on the detail of getting a serviced exchange unit from me.
