Hi there problem with Ascade 2 GEDue to illness I was not able to drain my system prior to the recent frost. On using the water pump, I now find water leaking out from under the black plastic block under the Carver Unit. I am running a 1994 Swift Royal 540 on a limited budget as I am early retired on a 60% War Disablement Pension. Can I ask your advice please Best wishes Martin

Hey guys, i was wondering if you could shed some light.I have broken my drain plug for my Carva Cascade 2 water system. I went down to my local caravan shop and bought a replacement. When i brought it home it was the wrong size (too small). When i took it back for an alternative they said none of the new type plugs (1984 onward) are available due to the manufacturer going bust. Any ideas would be more than welcome. Gareth

Dale, your problem is pretty simple, theres something wrong with your 'burner module', the solution is probably to change it and I can supply a serviced exchange module which would save you money on new.

Gareth, You have a pre June 87 drain bung not 84 because that would be a Cascade mk1 and you have an early mk2. As it happens I sold my only brand new pre87 Carver bung last week! but that's not to say I've not got something perfectly able to do the job and whats more this one won't ever break?! Contact me direct for details via web link below.

I have just bought a gas fire/heater from ebay - I'm fairly sure that it is a Carver from the front cover but I don't know which model. It has a fan thingy with it and some tubing with it to blow hot air through vents. I have looked all over it but can't find any info about the model number and I need to download an installation model. The guy I bought it from has no idea which model it is either as he just bought the van to strip it !! Any help as to how I can find out the model number would be most appreciated - is there a lot of difference in installation info for different models ? Thanks in advance xxx

Mark, it's the same as for 30 seconds, the thermal over temperature switch will activate and switch it off. There is a red button to press to reset it, this is on the plastic box which covers the elements electrical connections on the inboard end of the heater. If it's not plainly visible then late models had a little flap over them and very early ones didn't have one at all, in this case it's a 'one shot' thermal fuse that's blown and that will need replacing...and yes I have those

Danny, this could simply be a fan assembly fault, or a control board fault, I think the former is the most likely. If you contact me direct I'll explain the way forward.

Gary Tried to press the reset button but it doesnt look like its tripped. Checked fuse in wall switch ok, checked main MCB fuse ok, could it be that the heater is still working or is there a more serious problem.PS: have not tried to fill tank up yet. Mark

Mark, the button may well not move much, perhaps less than 0.5mm but the proof will be in if the water heats up, so I'd fill the tank and find out.BTW, did you write your question in Word?

Duncan, we will need to speak again about the problem, if the fire still doesn't work after trying two different control switches, (both of which have been tested to be working), it does suggest somethings wrong with the fire.I'd first suspect the connection cables plug connections and then the board the cable connects to on the fire. Generally it's simply a bad earth connection on the board. piggy back another earth wire onto the ignitions earth wire and screw this down the the base plate. With the plugs, you get 'creep' over the years, this means the gold contacts work their way out of the plastic plug causing a poor connection to the wire underneath. With the plug on something solid, use a good square edged screwdriver of a suitable size to push the contacts back into place, now measure the resistance from end to end of the cable to get all 6 the same as the lowest resistance one, 6-8 ohms you will find is best. Plugs are wired 1 to 6, 2-5 etc
