New to the game and wrongly forgot to drain the tank for winter. I now cannot get water to the taps. Having read many threads on this site I stripped down the non return valve which seems fine in the proccess snapped the hot out which I replaced. I did get water to the taps briefly following all this but it has since stopped completely. Water supply is good the pump does complain when refilling the tank but the pressure is ok. Spent all day trying to fix the problem without succes. Any ideas gratefully recieved as I am intending to go away soon. Thanks Rich
The other probable is lime scale blocking the passage up to the tank, back flushing this with a hose pipe connected to the drain bung hole usually works, you must have hot taps open to allow air to escape though.

Many thanks
If it works then either the control switch is not working correctly or theres a poor connection between. What you need to be aware of is how long it's been since it did work? long periods without use, (particularly if parked over long grass), will allow spiders etc to colonise the burner and require a strip down to remove their webs and nests. With that in mind don't have your head actually 'under' the van while testing once you have the spark working? or make sure you have para-medics at hand!!! Joking aside, I have all spares you might require PS first congrats on finding the the correct section to post in and second I'm glad I'm not paying you?! lol If you want to add your own question, just click on any 'reply to this message'
What service, sent my burner Saturday morning, returned fully working Wednesday morning. It's been refitted and now I have hot water via gas. Thanks once again Gary.
Thanks Richard

I've just aquired two Carver water heaters and after a few hours made one good one in perfect working order. I fired it up and after twenty five minites or so and got a full tank of hot water, no problems. So what's wrong? Well I've no idea how to use it, these are the points I'm concered about. 1. Do I need to keep the heater running at all times or just before I need it? Are there any problems with constant running? 2. How do I pump the water to where I need it? Should the pump be before the heater, pumping cold water in, pushing the hot water to the top of the boiler and through to the taps? 3. Can I pump cold water in to the heater while drawing hot water with the boiler still heating? If anyone can help I would be very greatful as I'm new to the whole caravan thing.
2, yes 3, as 2 is yes this is also yes but it will still run cold once the original 9lt of hot is used up.

Sometimes though, it's worth wiring in the cold shower tap switch to override the pressure switch, this allows the pump to keep running while showering with low flow rates and conserve the hot water. Note to myself to do this!!! LOL

Gary my carver cascade 2 water heater is failing to light, it clicks away for a few minutes when you switch it on the green light stays on for the same few minutes that it clicks then the red and the green light come on. Previous to this I didnt get any clicking so I removed the burner control module and left in the airing cupboard for a few days as suggested in previous forum what do you suggest hope you can help Allan. I dont know, it could be many things, I would expect a replacement module will cure it though! What year is it? Date is on the front face of the burner under the word Patterned

89 would also give it two electrodes over the burner, this particular module does respond better than most to a night in the warm but it seems yours is past resurrection! Solution then is a replacement and yes I have serviced exchange units, if you contact me direct I'll give you the details ___________________ website: http://www.arcsystems.biz email: [Log in to view email] If you want to add your own question, just click on any 'reply to this message'

And if it breaks off, DO NOT use a stud extractor/easy out, you need to cut the remains out of the heat exchanger.

My Carver SB1800 had a yellow flame and pathetic heat output. I also wanted to use the fanmaster i bought, so i bought an old Carver 1800 off ebay (the one with a full front fascia) which came with the heat reflector with the push out for the fanmaster. Fitted it all in, but guess what it doesnt work! Spark works fine. Don't appear to be able to get gas into the fire. I'm confused with the control knob, as it seems completely out of sync with the markings. On the valve, it can spin about 180 degrees from right to left. While in the right position, it can be pushed down. There appears to be a gap to push down into the bottom position but it wont. No sound of gas or smell at all. I'm guessing either the inlet valve isnt opening or its blocked somehow. Think it was stood for a while. Before anyone asks, the gas supply is turned on and free of air as hob burns strongly and water heater lights up happily. I'm so tempted to drench it in wd40 to make sure all is free, but spent the last hour reading through here and you don't seem to approve. Any reasons? I'm a bit stumped without taking it all to bits. Any ideas i'd be grateful? Thanks, Dale
