Hello Dale, first WD40 is useless at most things, where gas valves are concerned it's downright dangerous, it's as simple as that.

As far as your 1800 is concerned it could be several things, what I can say is it's a complicated valve which is not easy to fix.

Thanks for your reply.
So you think its deffinately the gas valve then?

I have a perfectly working fire in the old caravan, but its for the free standing 1800 (same as i've just took out). I would have used this anyway, but the valve on the new fire is in a different place (lower down, and the spark generator is built into the fascia). Have you ever heared of making it fit with the full fascia? Apart from the the fire seems to be identical.

Or what about swapping the valves.

My dad was a registered gas fitter until he retired, so I'll also get him to take a look.

Thanks again
Dale

Good news!

I've managed to fix the heater. Inside the elbow joint connecting the main feed to the caravan was full of thick brown gas residue, probably due to a previous caravans lack of service.

Cleaned all this out, and it fired up straight away! Just need to attatch my fanmaster and install all the pipes and my new caravan is complete! :-)

Hi, I'm having a similar problem with my Fanmaster, pilot light will light okay, but when you turn on main burner its noisy and wont run correctly. Wonder if you sorted out the problem with yours??? if the flue is blocked would this cause a problem??? as suggested by the response to you e-mail? I know its been some time ago but hope you are still on this e-mail

Hi Gary,

Sorry to do this publicly but I have tried emailing and calling but no reply. We spoke a couple of weeks back and I sent my burner module to you on 1st April. I have heard nothing from you and the cheque has not gone through my bank. As other people here are singing your praises on a speedy service I presume the package did not get to you - could you please let me know so I can take it up with the post office. Many thanks - Shaun Leahy.

perhaps your right Stu pot?

Sorry folks but I have had other things to do this last couple of days, normal service will resume as quick as I can.
Apart from that, the general problem is time, incessant phone calls, 67 emails today alone!! and of course questions on here and other forums?

In ten or more years I've not known anything like this, it feels like the whole country is trying to talk to me! it's not just me either, many dealers/repairs are saying much the same??....silly seasons come early this year!!

To everyone then, if your problem is not urgent then please leave it a while, and no calls after 5:30pm please, 8-9pm at night is not funny!!!!!

Leahy, as above so I do understand and I'll check in the morning.

Apart from about four within breaks I've been unable to answer today but will though be answering calls as best I can tomorrow.

All calls though I'm afraid will need to be kept as brief as possible!

Albs, I've not got an SBE manual but the parts and principle of operation are exactly the same as a Cascade mk1 water heater, apart from the temperature sensor that is, the SBE's is on the control switch not in the water tank! the white wire of the wiring loom is therefore not used.

So you can now download the Cascade mk1 manual from my website

Rob, a slow flash first means low battery power but it also means any other fault the logic detects.
In your case the fan motor is totally worn out, this I suspect has overloaded and damaged the main control board and it's this fault the slow flash is indicating.

Solution is a new motor and replace/repair control board, I offer an overhaul service which works out considerably cheaper than buying a new board and motor and comes back with a 12 month warranty.

Contact direct please for details

Dennis, your problem is almost certainly the burner, there should be a fine metal gauze welded to the top frame of the burner and it's this I suspect that's very loose or come off altogether.

Scris, New tanks are unavailable but I've now developed a successful method of repair to even badly holed tanks.

I would suggest you send whole heater for overhaul, cost from Eire though is a bit silly, A tip is, if you can pack it ready and get it taken over by truck driver for posting in NI/UK, this makes things a lot cheaper.

Whichever way you send it, I can say cost will be a fraction of 670 euro!!

Mick, this problem should never happen but your now the third saying the same thing! I've got the other two here and they work perfectly for me?!
My best guess given you've had a leak is you have water in the black box.
