From what you say it is a Caravelle electronic controlled gas fire, six wires though takes it back to around 82-84 maybe 85, after that the black 'Din' lead changed to a flat white cable with telephone type jack plugs.Mark will give you a definite answer in 'do you know the age of your caravan' if you can supply a serial number or perhaps upload a picture if you can't find a number

Well that's dated it, the plug is the latter of two types of square one Carver used, so I would expect 1983 at the latest, by 84 they were using the round Din plug. However, the telephone type plug used on the mk4 after 85 was useless, so many over the years have been converted back to one of the type you have, no certainty as to the age of your van then

Gypsy, I would think it will be obvious how the pipes fit as the shape of the break will position the pipe, as far as I know their brazed in or perhaps silver soldered. Stainless work hardens so a stainless weld is not the best choice, a brazed joint is far more forgiving. The cold in pipe fits to the tank in the middle but is angled down to the bottom, if the temperature sensor tube to the side of this is loose? then this is angled up, (later models don't have this second tube) Once the heaters on the bench and outer insulation removed, it will be again be obvious how to remove the inner water tank from the outer drum. First unscrew the clamp ring, you will then find the inner and outer are sealed together with a large silicone 'O' ring, this can make it seemed glued together but it's not, care though should be taken to loosen the join so as not to damage the seal. Ensure when reassembling this seal and the centre shaped seal are doing their job perfectly Only thing to my mind to cause this damage is vibration and quite likely from unbalanced wheels

I have a Carver Cascade 2 just replaced the fusible plug. I have lit the heather with no problems but when I switch off the electric switch nothing happens. The gas seems to be at full power at all times. Does anyone have any advice for me please? Thanks Adrian

Well I can only answer the question you ask and you said water pipes? you didn't mention the sensor hole!!Anyway yes the sensor holes open albeit the top of it's sealed, this seal though has been known to weep a little. the sensors wires are tie wrapped to stop the sensor coming out the hole. I don't know the model you have but Carvers 'B0' version as fitted to ABI's in 82/3/4 used enamelled tanks with stainless fittings, common for these to rot at the bottom of the tank. Truma's in later years used all stainless tanks. Other than that the current Truma's are mechanically the same, the electrics have been updated but do exactly the same job and therefore work the same as way back then! Operation is simple, switch it on, set the temperature and leave it alone, temperature control is fully automatic so looks after itself switching on and off as required. Further information you can download from Truma's website I have a new drain/pressure relief valve to suit you heater

Adrian, theres a saying things happen in threes and I'm now believing it?your the third in a week!! with a problem that up to now I'm unfamiliar with?Whats happening is the gas valve is sticking open, these valves are not serviceable, only solution then is to change the whole burner module that contains the valve.

Thank youWhere is the gas valve located on the heater. Im thinking that if I give it a good shake then maybe on the off chance that it might work - Im being tight and hoping not to spend any money on it. Any idea where I can get a new burner module for my carver. Thanks Adrian

Dave, contact me direct for prices.Adrian, it's a gas valve, you need to be sure it shuts on it's own everytime, not worry you might need to clout it first!!!
