Hi again, Must thank Gary for help in fault finding on my old boiler (no not the wife) ref May 4th with slow flow probs on hot side. I replaced the none return valve very easly and a good flow was restored and the unit heated up just fine, but the boiler fault light keeps coming on. The over temp had poped out but it reset OK and unit appears to work fine apart from this fault light. Any help would be aprecciated.

Cheers Trev

Trev, your confusing gas with electric heating?

The red fault light is gas so it will come on if the gas is switched off and your heating the water with electric.

The electric heating overtemp thermostat is popping because the normal temp stat is sticking, replace the normal stat and all should be well.

Hi Gary, Many thanks once again for your prompt and acurate diagnosis of my problem, you are correct in thinking I did not have the gas swithed on at the time. I think probably the overtemp only poped out because the boiler did not have enough water in at the time when swithed on!!!

Many thanks Trev

I have a new caravan (Compass reflection 1993).

When the Carver Cascade 2 GE is switched on we get no hot water.

Symptoms are: coldwater flows from all cold taps, no flow from hot water taps. If drain plug removed no water drains from tank. If cold tap switched on whilst drain is removed water jets out of th drain hole. We have a telltale light that indicates if the microswitch is faulty so I know it's not the switches, I can also hear the pump when a hot tap is switched.

Could this be the inlet valve?

Gary,

thanks again for advice.picked my van up this morning, put the heater on for 40 mins, came back and instant hot water. (for once it would appear I bought a van with was perfect).
If I require any parts for this in future you will obviously be top of the list.

Geoff

Anth, you have found the reason your fuse blew in the first place, the burner should switch off 100% and not die down to a 'pilot' light as it was once described to me!

Answer is the the gas valve is sticking open and the whole 'burner module' needs replacing, nothing you can do to repair the valve, or I for that matter!

The strange thing is, I've been providing serviced exchange modules for 10yrs now, until this year I've only come across this problem on very rare occasions, this year, yours must be the 10th at least!!

Please don't ask here on Preloved for prices, prices change all the time but these messages stay around for years, stated prices then would become out of date very quickly

Therefore for prices please contact me direct via email: [Log in to view email]

Anth, common fault with 95/6 modules, problem is, it asks for a reheat but there's no spark so fails, when then the whole heater cools down the spark returns and off it goes again.

The fault is electronic and the solution is to replace the burner module

Ok - as I'm far too lazy to read thru all the pages of questions so far ...

Is there anyone who can tell me the problem with my carver water heater!

Thru the winter the system was drained through the drain plug on the outside of the van however when we put the crew back and tried to use the water heater as it filled the water simply poured out throught the screw plug...

please tell me its a cheap fix and its only the plug that needs replacing and not a case of a new heater!!

If it is the plug - are they readily available do u know????

CM Look on Ebay - Item No. 400058035503. Perhaps it is just the O Ring that's missing from yours, these can be obtained from most hardware stores/ Halfords, etc. JD.

Hi Kenny, I've no idea why it should not light, if it's got gas and a spark then it should?!

I'd suggest you get it out and send it to me for a service/overhaul
