Harley, your problem is the gas shut off valve, which is part of the main gas valve, has come out of it's groove, now the cam can lift and open it, put it's unable to push it back down and shut it.Reason is things have become stiff though age or lack of use, it's possible to put things back as they should be quite easily but more than likely it will happen again straight away. Correct solution is to service the whole valve, not a job though for the inexperienced

hi , I have a carver cascade 2 fitted in my caravan and this works very well, I have a carver caravelle 4 thermostat which the light stays green if left under the 3 setting, and a fire which just says carver on it,If the thermostat is turned above 3 the fire lets off a clunck and starts clicking for about 20 seconds then a clunck again, the green light then starts flashing wich i presume it means the thermostat needs turning off and back on again, i have tried this many times and still the same, can anyone help me get my fire to work please ? many thanks martin

John, if you don't switch either heating source on, then the water is not being heated, it's as simple as that. However, while the water is in the tank and therefore inside the caravan and given time, it will heat up a little to the temperature inside the van.

Martin, your gas fire is trying to work but something is stopping it.Simply, you set a temperature on the dial above what it is in the van, you can now leave that alone and switch on. The fire should light and heat the van. then switch off when the set temperature is reached,it will then relight automatically when the temperature drops a couple of degree. Your systems seems to be working as it should, the gas valves opening and then you hear the spark, you then hear the valve shut and the green start flashing. Either then it's not lighting, or it's lighting but the control switch does not recognise the flames lit so still shuts down? If it's the former then check the gas supply to it, and also check the state of the short steel gas pipe for corrosion while your at it. If the latter, then check all connection especially the earth connection

Thanks for your help Gary. I assume you mean Goerge Metz? Just one quick question to get me going for now, is the burner module easy to bend, is it a simple job I can do with a pair of pliers, or is there a nack to it?

John, I've no idea how anything might work if it's switched off?! The only solution is to have the wiring checked to make sure everything is correct

Rodders, I certainly do mean George, pliers though won't do it, you need to clamp it in a vice and George has one on his van.

Hi can anybody help me I have a 1995 Elddis Jetstream and it has a carver fanmaster heater. I last used it in June and the warm air heater worked fine. I always have it on elec auto fan to keep the chill of at night. Went to spend the night in it last night and it is only blowing out cold. The only difference in the set up is that i have not got the hot water going as the van is parked on my drive and the kids wanted to sleep in it for fun. Anybody out there got any ideas? Many thanks
