We have just purchased a Bessacarr caravan which has a CASCADE CARVER WATER SYSTEM. The trouble is we have no idea how to work it! I have turned both switches on (one continuously stays green) and the gas does not ignite and the water stays cold. We have connected the van to electricity and still no hot water also connected to the 12volt battery (which when turned on the switch does not glow red - could this be the problem), is there a small battery that ignites the gas or are we just doing everything wrong? Thanks.

Hello...is it the aluminuim water tank which is coroded....If it is..I had a leak on my first outing this year....I had a quote costing over £ 500 from Kirkcaldy Caravans Fife, did not go ahead with replacement...but a chap from Norham give me advice on repair...remove the whole system...very easy believe me (can send instruction)...normally its the area where the cold water tank lies on the polystyrene support, clean down area of corosion apply two coats of Arldite liquid metal.allow to dry over 24 hrs then apply two layers of fibre glass as an insulator...replace the unit. don't forget to replace mastic sealing to outside cover/vent.... regards scottie

I have a Cascade 2GE water heater, which previously worked fine on gas and electric. Since going away for a month, two things have happened. First of all, the electric heating is always on, even if the switch is off, even with the fuse removed! äThe only difference is that the red light does not illuminate. So I guess that means a new switch, if such a thing is available. It is in a 1991 Compass Rallye van. The next thing we discovered was that, having disconnected the electrical supply to the electrical switch, the gas is not heating. The green light comes on and stays on, no other lights appear, but even after several hours, we don't get hot water. So, as the electric water heating otherwise seems to be working, i.e. temperature right, no overheating, I have reinstated the electrical supply and we are running the hot water on that.Even after reading loads of posts on this forum, I still can't fathom what it means when only the green light is lit but no heating happens. There is plenty of gas and we have a mains hookup. Any insight into this would be gratefully received. Cheers, Kevin

Hi Gary and thanks for the chat on the phone yesterday and found it a great help. I did get the module out ok cleaned it all up and then without connecting back to the gas just connected to the elect and all of a sudden i could see it sparking, i put back in connected gas and it fired up and run ok, turned off and again it started thought great .Today Sat i went out went to start and again nothing, so took off did the same again but this time no spark, i did wonder if the switch was playing up but had a volt finder and found power getting to module so was wondering if the valve is sticking or what do you think and can it be repaired or renewed thanks and hope to hear from you . Dave

I have been trying to locate the thread on fixing the Gas problem on my Electrolux Fridge. I used to have it on my Favourites but have lost it. Can anyone guide me to a thread which can explain how to check the Fridge and Service it. Also do you know of a supplier of Gas Fridge parts. Cheers Andy Mclay
