the seal is a rather large O ring & you should be able to get it at any dealers shops. You will also need seals for the nut at the back of the heater, that holds the tank to the front housing.

Hi Mark, Wait a few days for gary to come back & he'll answer your question fuller than i will. I seem to remember filing a heater out to fit a bigger element a couple of yrs ago & if im remembering rightly yes it works. Gary might do the elements as well, or u can get them at a caravan parts dept at any dealers.

hi there... I have a cascade 2 water heater and when it is switched on it clicks and then a small bang as if there is too much gas being given to it...I then have to switch it of and on several times before it lights and this is not always guaranteed...each time it lights it is always with a bang !...at first i thought it was the wind blowing it out but tried to shelter it..It will light for a while and then sometimes the igniter "clicks" for some reason.. Are these problems clear and can some one help me..??? oh and if you are standing out at the burner outside the caravan you can smell the gas

Hi rosemary, there should be a click, when u turn on the heater, its the gas valve opening, it then starts to spark. If u dont hear a click either the module or wall switch is goosed.

I'm back!! thanks Keith for holding the fort, and for the kind comments from Jeh and really sorry I could not take up your offer of a pint or two..mind you, made up for it last night!?Anyway I will try and answer all the questions in one go. As far as tank resealing goes Rosemary it is important to make sure the tank can touch the casting when placed in position without first touching the step at the top of the tie rod. If it does not press tightly on the casting the tank can rock slightly from side to side and any reseal will be short lived as the movement will dislodge the seal. If it does indeed rock then some 'frost' damage has occured and this will require the tank to be straightened first. With spark and no gas valve opening unless the battery voltage is very low you will need a new module, it will not be the switch at fault. The other problem with smelling gas and lighting with a bang will also require a new module...the sooner the better!!! Dennis and others, serviced exchange modules from me are £63 inclusive of postage and 6 month warranty...seems to cheap to me if as Keith says they are now £147 new!! MarkN if there is no circuit though an heating element then it has indeed had it!. 850w elements can be filed down to fit a smaller 630w tank and I can supply these ready done. You can do it yourself by reducing the width of the element so as to maintain as much metal between the element hole and the fixing holes in the tank. Then increasing the height of the hole in the tank to give clearance in this direction. This will be much quicker than filing the elements as there is a lot of metal to remove on the flat sides compared to that of the tank. Finally alter the fixing hole centres of the element so as to keep the tank holes round. Finish by coating with two coats of clear two part epoxy glue rubbed on filed surfaces with a finger tip. I have a 20 year old elddis caravan with a Carver water heater while on site this week end I had a water leak from it, at first I thought I had not shut the valve on the outside of my van after draining the system but have noticed that it is not coming from there but what I think was called the pressure valve, its in the top lefthand side of the outside workings, its got a metal ring attached to it, (if that helps if I have the wrong name for it,) can anyone offer me any help me on what would cause this? reading the instructions it mentions that it could be something to do with the water pressure if I have got it right. Could this water problem be anything to do with the fact that I had a washer go on the hot tap in my caravan bathroom, and when changing it I had trouble getting it of and while trying I cracked the old washer and so now have a hot tap with a broken washer so that will not turn off the tap so had to masking tape the micro switch to the off postition, until I work out how to change the washer.I was also unable to light my gas fire, the green light would come on and then shortly go of, with the fire not lighting at all Any help would be gratefully recieved as I feel I have been ripped of to many times being a woman

First Rosemary thank you but you need to sort out that leak as any water will find it's way into the electronic control of the module which sits under the tank. I Forgot to mention that leaks from the water inlet and outlet fittings will spray onto the tank and would make it appear the tank is leaking so check those as well by giving them a tug sideways. Finally water from a hole further back in the bottom of the tank will also run forward and drip The new module is sent 1st class on receipt of a cheque to Arc Systems for £63 to the address on my website, this way you will see from the new one how it fits and how to change it beforehand. Your old one then comes back in the same box for £2 second class post. Gary http://www.arcsystems.biz

It is common for the pressure relief valve or more correctly the 'quick drain valve' to crack at it's base where it screws in and it will be here that it is leaking. I think you will find if you shove it sideways it will snap off completly. A replacement QDV body is £5 and you then reuse the innards of your old one which will be fine. As said it's not really a pressure valve as it won't blow off until 50psi so not many pumps can get that high and leaking taps will only serve to reduce the pressure. As for the gas fire can I assume it's an SBE1800 'Caravelle' which has a green light in a wall switch that flashes after about 10 seconds if there is a problem??

wow I can't believe how quickly you have replied to me Gary, I think I understand what you are saying and feel I could tackle this job, where would I get this valve from? I am going up to my caravan shortly so will check the book out just to make sure I have told you the right part. I am not sure of the full model number of the fire again I will check this out shortly, yes it does have a green light that is flashing to say it isn't working I wish somewhere ran Caravan maintenance class's as I would certainly book in to do such a course, I have done motorcycle maintenance being as I wanted a bike and needed to be able to know I could look after one before spending out.
