a. she said it is a Peugeot radio, not a Citroen model b. each radio is individually coded- a code from some other radio wont work c. too many tries with wrong codes will lock the radio

I have a error 4 message on my head unit, clarion model PU-2294B. If I leave it with power to it will it eventually let me have another attempt at putting the code in? For that serial number (yes, it is a T) I get 0152 or 0312.

The message you apparently missed (although I have posted it several times) says that Clarion radios (amongst others) are not amenable to decoding from their serial numbers. It goes on to suggest a course of action.
Apparently people don't even read the messages directed to them personally, with the answer they desired.

Blaupunkt radios can be decoded from the serial number, but none of those numbers looks like a Blaupunkt serial number. The right number will be in a form similar to "BP2775T9625467", with a letter in the middle.
only other number is etched onto case: GM020317985028 but does not hava letter in middle. Closer inspection reveals evidence of a missing label.... Thanks again 4 your time

I'm afraid that is a Clarion serial number. Grundig, Clarion, and Philips radio codes generally cannot be derived from serial numbers; they have to be looked up by someone that has access to the database. It is better to get your Citroen dealer to do this than go to the online places. Some dealers charge for this service, maybe as much as an online decoding company, but your chance of come-back is better if it doesn't work.
Hi, did you manage to cure your radio beeping and having to reset code, as we're having the same problem.
I've read all the forum and wondered whether you could help me, I;m having the same problem as someone else [croppie] in june last year, put code in then get lots of beeping and finally goes off, I was wondering whether we might have been given wrong code, the no' BP5761S6640656 our code we were given was 6910, Hope you can help us.
