another request. Please morgangw, can you find out the code for a citroen xantia 1994, stereo VF7X14A00054A0681 thank you very much in advance
It would sometimes ask for the code every few days and it would be fine. However a child entered it wrong 3 times so it's frozen on the last entry. The manual says it would accept more codes after 2 hours however after a few days pressing the BAND nothing in doesn't refresh the code entry. I've disconnected the battery for a while too. Any ideas before I burn the car? lol Thanks
When a radio is locked because of too many wrong code entries, it will usually clear and allow a new code entry if it is left turned on for an hour (in your case, maybe two). "Turned on" means powered up, with the ignition on. I assume that you aren't leaving it turned on for "a few days". If this doesn't work on yours, perhaps there is a problem with the power connections. There are at least two, one in the background to keep the code alive. It sounds a bit like this last one may be intermittent, causing a spurious code request every so often.
I've driven it for a few hours with no luck. I assume this has the same effect as keeping the ignition on? Thanks Martin
Driving the car means the ignition is on. If the radio is also turned on, then that would meet the conditions to reset the code lockout. It sound like you have a problem with the power connections, specifically the one that bypasses the ignition key and keeps the code alive when the car is not running.
General info on radio codes- Citroen don't make radios, they just put their brand on radios made by others. Don't bother posting the model of your car. No one can figure out what your radio code is from that. Radios are coded individually. Codes only work for the one radio, not for all the radios of that make or model. To find out the code you need the serial number. Not the model number or the part number. As there are several numbers on a radio, you should probably post them all to make sure the right one is included. Blaupunkt radio codes can usually be derived from the serial number by software, but NOT radios made by Grundig, Clarion, or Philips. These have to be looked up by someone that has access to the database. It is better to get your Citroen dealer to look up the code than go to the online decoding sites. Some dealers charge for this service, maybe as much as an online decoding company, but your chance of come-back is better if it doesn't work. Blaupunkt serial numbers begin with BP. Clarions usually begin with CL. Grundigs begin with GR. If you don't have a BP number, you will not get a code here. Repeat- Codes can be calculated for Blaupunkt radios with serial numbers starting with "BP". Other makes with "CL" "GR" and so on, no, sorry.
I shall remove it and see what the serial number is.

For that serial number I get codes 6105, 0105, or 0283.
Just to let people know, I came to the conclusion that I'd have to phone Citroen and pay for my CLarion code - they just gave it to me over the phone, free of charge, no questions asked! Anyone struggling, look in your service book for the supplier / first service Citroen dealer - try calling them - Citroen seem to have a database with all of this information in that they don't mind handing out.
VF7X14A00054A0681. Thank you very much!!!

That's a Blaupunkt, but you have posted the wrong number. There will be another one, with a letter in the middle.
PH1 (C) Thanks again
For that serial number I get the codes 2537, 0537, or 0113.
The first code worked a treat, simply outstanding thank you once again
