READ BEFORE POSTING

This information has been posted many times. If you do not read it, you will be wasting your time.

Citroen don't make radios, they just put their brand on radios made by others. Don't bother posting the model of your car. No one can figure out what your radio code is from that. Radios are coded individually. Codes only work for the one radio, not for all the radios of that make or model. To find out the code you need the serial number. Not the model number or the part number. As there are several numbers on a radio, you should probably post them all to make sure the right one is included.

You will need to remove the radio from the dash to get the serial number, and probably to find out what make and model it is. Instructions for removing your radio, by model of car, can be had for free here:

http://www.fitaudio.com/

Blaupunkt radio codes can usually be derived from the serial number by software, but NOT radios made by Grundig, Clarion, or Philips. These have to be looked up by someone that has access to the database. It is better to get your Citroen dealer to look up the code than go to the online decoding sites. Some dealers charge for this service, maybe as much as an online decoding company, but your chance of come-back is better if it doesn't work. Blaupunkt serial numbers begin with BP. Clarions usually begin with CL. Grundigs begin with GR. Phillips begin with PH. If you don't have a BP number, you will not get a code here.

Some visitors have reported that Phillips codes can be got at:

http://www.tinyurl.com/222codes

Rarely, Clarion radios have a serial number beginning C70000. There is a decoder that is supposed to work with these serial numbers, though I have had no luck with it. If your Clarion has such a serial number, then post it and I will give it a try.

Repeat- Codes can be calculated for Blaupunkt radios with serial numbers starting with "BP". Other makes with "CL", "GR", "PH" and so on, no, sorry.

Your radio is a Clarion and if you read the regularly posted , standard message on this forum you will find the reason for the difficulty in obtaining your code.

Jonboy80-

That serial number is not right. I think you have misread one of the characters as a numeral when it needs to be an alphabetic character. Either that or there is another number beginning BP which you haven's quoted. Is the second 4 actually an A?

Hi and thanks for a speedy response,

I have double checked the numbers they are very clearly engraved (and printed) as follows:

(Engraved S/N):
BP313443588733

(On Sticker):
BLAUPUNKT GMBH
815 BP313443588733
PSA RD4 B5 N1
7 643 134 392

I have checked these numbers 4 times and can confirm there are no typing errors!

Thanks again.

Hi just got a 2nd hand citroen zx and need to unlock the radio. Its a Blaupunkt serial no. BP1760T7830834,model no. citroen pf1(A).
Also the dispaly shows only 3 "---" and wont change does the unit need to be left on for an hour to remove the blocking or is it totally unuseable.

Any help or advice much appreciated.

elmo-

For that serial number I get codes 1357 or 0171.

These radios need to say "code" or "cod" to allow the entry of the code number. The dashes probably mean that it is blocked after too many wrong entries. In many cases this can be cleared by leaving the radio turned on for an hour or more, but occasionally a guesser can be so persistent that the radio is permanently locked.

Blaupunkt Citroen PF1(A) Citroen code entry instructions-
(very similar for PF1(B) and RDS models)

Turn on radio, the display will show "COD" (or CODE)

Press preset [1] repeatedly for the first digit (blank for zero)
Press preset [2] repeatedly for the second digit
Press preset [3] repeatedly for the third digit
Press preset [4] repeatedly for the fourth digit

Finally press the [station +] button to save (or station ^)

I dont do radio codes sorry. If you go to your local dealer with log book and proof of ID for a charge of £10 to £15 pounds they will give you a code for your car. It would be better taking the radio out to the dealers, the can check the code for you and if a previous owner has recoded the unit at another radio company, it will need to be recoded back ti citroen code no. To tack out radio you can use two pieces of wire coat hanger about thee inches long, on each side of the radio top and bottom you will find 2x 1/8" dia holes. Put the two pieces of wire in the holes each side in turn and with a screwdriver prise each side forward towards you GENTLY if ti doesnt move forward about 1/2" push the wires in till you feel them push in the two small levers at the frameand try the screwdriver gently again. Do each side in turn then the radio should pull straight out with a bit if jiggling. Remove the 3 x wiring blocks its obvious tey go back int each socket as they only fit one way. Remove the ariel wire and pos black eath wire and radio is ou good luck Jeff.
